We appreciate that there has been significant media coverage regarding these treatments, and many patients are interested in whether they may be suitable for them. However, NHS prescribing is subject to strict eligibility criteria, and not everyone who wishes to receive these medications will qualify.

To be considered for weight management medication through the NHS, patients must meet specific national and local prescribing criteria. This may include factors such as:

·         A body mass index of 35 or higher, for people from South Asia, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African Caribbean family backgrounds, a lower BMI threshold of 32.5 applies

Have four out 5 of the following comorbidities:

• Type 2 diabetes
• Hypertension
• Dyslipidaemia (High Cholesterol)
• Cardiovascular Disease
• Obstructive Sleep Apnoea

If you are currently obtaining weight loss injections privately, this does not necessarily mean that the medication can be transferred to an NHS prescription. All patients must meet the NHS eligibility requirements before prescribing can be considered.

For patients who do not meet the criteria for weight management injections, there may be alternative support available, including:

• Healthy lifestyle advice
• Diet and nutrition support
• Physical activity programmes
• Local weight management services
• Referral to specialist services where appropriate

If you believe you may meet the eligibility criteria, please contact the surgery to discuss your circumstances with a clinician. Any decision regarding treatment will be based on current NHS guidance and an individual clinical assessment.

Our surgery will no longer be issuing diazepam for acute symptoms of anxiety or stress, this is including but not limited to flight anxiety, dental procedures, or MRI scans.

Every Thursday, With You will be at Cambridge Avenue offering appointments to our patients who are stuggling with addiction. You must be under them to be eligible for an appointment.
